Winter in Wyoming

Our family loves taking road trips: packing up the van, loading in all 8 children (and at one time a dog), and driving to new places is one of our favorite ways to create memories and bond! Being on the road for hours, and sometimes days at a time can be a little intimidating and potentially boring, but we have found ways to keep ourselves entertained and to really enjoy the miles as they come.

Tip #1: The Snacks
"Am I eating because I'm BORED?"
No. You are eating because it's FUN and DELICIOUS! We make sure to hit up the grocery store or gas station before embarking on our trip and pick up all of our favorite treats and snacks. There's nothing like remembering you still have a stash of sour gummy worms in your book bag by the time hour 3 rolls around!

Tip #2: Get Your Game Face On
One of our favorite ways to pass the time is to play games with whoever we're sitting next to in the van! We love Uno or other card games like Egyptian Ratscrew or War, and our all time favorite is the Head's Up App on our iPhones. We kill hours playing games, getting too competitive, and then laughing about it later.

Tip #3: Take In The Scenery
Unless you're driving through barren winter wasteland, typically you can enjoy some picturesque views and scenery on your drive! We never hesitate to pull over and take some photos if we are in a really beautiful area and always have our iPhones ready in case we pass by something lovely.
Tip # 4: MOVIE TIME!
When all else fails, it's always good to bring a DVD player, laptop, or a tablet to watch movies on. You could even have a marathon and your hours in the car will disappear like magic! One time Hailey blew up our family DVD player by plugging the cords in the wrong outlets. But let's not dwell on the past...

There's nothing better than roasting marshmallows and making s'mores over the fire!

We hope your next road trip is full of fun and adventure! How are you spending your winter?
